This is a cello. I play the cello usually once a day if not more. I practice a variety of pieces in many different styles. Not only do I play classical music, but I play more recent music with cello arrangements, and music from musicals. I’m involved in Somerset Berkley’s Orchestra, String Ensemble, and Chamber. I also participate in the Pit Orchestra for the Somerset Berkley Spring Musical and the West Bridgewater Middle-High School’s Spring Musical as well.
This is another instrument that I play, the marimba. When I’m not performing during the Marching Band season, I play this during the Winter Percussion season. I can perform both 2 mallet and 4 mallet techniques, with either 1 or 2 mallets in each hand. I used the draw tool create a background solid, and I then used the color replacement tool to change the color of the keys. Also, I used the clone tool to add the mallets in different places around the marimba.
I’ve been playing the cello since I was in the 4th grade. Everyone wondered why I had chosen such a big instrument for being so small. This image was edited in Photoshop. I used the clone stamp tool and the pattern stamp tool for the background. I also used the color replacement tool to change the colors of the dark places such as the tuning pegs, the tail, and the acoustic holes. The entire thing had been changed with the crosshatch filter. For the bottom image, I added a layer on top of the top image and traced it. Then, I removed the background to reveal the line drawing.

This is a Vibraphone. During the fall season of Marching Band in 2016, my very first Marching Band season, this is the instrument that I played. Unlike the marimba, the vibe has a pedal, which releases a stop of fabric on the resonators (or the tubes that make the keys ring) and it makes the sound ring longer. To do this, I found a
picture of a vibe, and I traced it. Then I used the magic wand tool to select each key and change the color. Then I made the text follow the line using the text on a path tool in Adobe Illustrator. |
For the month of January, I chose another cello. For this image, I found a cello online, and I traced it by adding another layer on top of the image and using the pencil tool. Then, I deleted the image in the background and used the paint bucket tool to fill in the line drawing that I created. The lower image I found on the internet and then changed the opacity in Photoshop.

For February, I used 2 new Photoshop tools that I hadn’t been taught. Before I colored in the background using the paint bucket tool, which I have never used, I also used the Background Eraser tool, which took out all of the other details in the background that I didn’t want in the final image. Then, I retraced over the lines and I colored them and filled them in.

For this month, I used 2 new Photoshop tools. To blend in the colors on the image, I used the sponge tool. Also, I used the magic eraser tool, which deletes a piece of the image and makes it transparent. I used this tool to remove pieces of the original image so that when I traced over it, some of the image wouldn’t appear. Usually I create another layer and then delete the background, but I decided to use the magic eraser tool because it took less time.
