For this month, I chose an image of an electric cello. Since I’ve been playing cello for around 6 years, I want to get an electric. It requires an amp just like a guitar. I tried not to trace it as much, because it’s supposed to be my artwork, so I changed the opacity of the image so it wasn’t as visible. I got the main outline of it, and then changed the colors.

For this month, I used an image that ties all of the previous images together. I used the magic wand tool to select every letter and part of the image. Then, I used the pencil tool to color in each letter. After everything was filled in, I added a darker outline so that the image would stand out. Then, I added the bold to all of the letters.

For this month, we didn’t have to use Publisher, Photoshop, or Illustrator. We had to use magazine clippings to create a soul collage. I tried to stay with the cool color scheme with greens, blues, and purples just like most of my images for the months in the calendar. This collage was created with a few different magazines, and was not supposed to have a theme.

The calendar we created took all of term 3 and then some of the time in term 4. This is the front cover, back cover, and extra pages at the end of the calendar. The graphics on the extra pages were previously used for backgrounds on certain months. The front cover was used with the magic wand tool and the pencil tool, just recoloring and tracing an image. The back cover took longer. I had to use the snippet tool and take screenshots of the top half of every month to create thumbnails and save them as JPEGs to add them to publisher.

The next assignment we did was the cook book pages. The cook book has recipes from around the world, and I had Estonian recipes. I chose to do a bean soup recipe and a wild mushroom and potato gratin. On both pages, there are the ingredients, how to cook, fun facts, and images of the food and Estonia. I put both recipes on one publisher sheet, completed how I wanted them to look, and then used the snippet tool to take an image of them. After that, I put each image of the recipe into the template that Mr. Adams gave, and then wrote my page number, name, and printed them.

This assignment was for the Level 1 students only, who had already completed their cook book pages. I changed the color of the countries, continents on the globe, and the water, and then I used the pencil tool to create different patterns to tell the difference between the land and the water. The water has polka dots, and the land has stripes. Then, I added the light blue background to make it less boring. The entire class voted on a cover for the cook book, but mine was not chosen. This cover really only took about6 20 minutes to make, especially since I had a time limit.
The last assignment for Graphics was the can label. I found the measurements of the can so that I could use a custom sized paper so it would fit on the can. I decided to do a vacation in a can, which would contain things like sand and everything you need for a vacation. I used Photoshop to erase the background from images like the flip flops, sunglasses, and beach chair. Then, I used different fonts and the templates that were given to create the title, nutrition facts, and all of the information needed on the can.
